But not for me on 26H2? Reading the release notes, it doesn't mention 26H2.

MS never lists RP or Insider builds on Production release notes. Defender is generally the same everywhere, though some Preview builds can have a newer test version ahead of Production.

26H2 shares the same code base as 24H2/25H2, so it’s fixed too.

The fix for this is 4.18.26080.4 but my main system is still on 4.18.26080.3 released a couple of weeks ago. The two other systems I have, also on 26H2, installed the .4 version when I turned them on, but my main system doesn't find it. Perhaps it's a controlled rollout ...

EDIT: Have downloaded and installed from the MS Update Catalogue.

Are we running win 11 on cpu with hardware requirements or are we running it forced onto hardware that is deemed not compatible by MS?
If some hardware requirement is missing from the cpu then it might complain indeed. Just a thought about something that never gets mentioned along with bug reports. Those are not bugs but user errors for forcing what is not supported.
