Hi All,

I have a user that his wifi keeps getting disconnected. He's on Windows 11. The issue is that he keeps hitting the WIFI toggle button and turning off wifi. Anyone seen the ability in registry or somewhere to disable the ability to turn it off? This essentially so if he hits the toggle button it does nothing? I know before I found the ability to turn off the airplane mode toggle button by disabling the service. Thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,

When you say he' toggling it off, are you talking about the f key function that toggles wifi on and off that comes with some laptops? This can sometimes be disabled in bios.

Or are you talking about toggling it off from the quick actions menu menu that pops up in bottom right corner of screen when you click on the wifi signal icon in the task tray?
You can not remove it but you can hide it.

With the release of Windows 11 version 24H2, Microsoft removed the ability to pin or unpin quick action buttons. Instead, the interface uses a multi-page view that is not editable. Your only option is to drag the Wi-Fi button to a less visible position.
  1. Click the network icon (or the battery or sound icons) on the far-right of your taskbar to open the Quick Settings panel. Alternatively, press Windows key + A.
  2. Click and drag the Wi-Fi button down to the lower area of the panel to move it to the second page of buttons, where it will be hidden from the initial view.
  3. Release the mouse button when you're done arranging your quick settings.

Just curious. Can you not teach him that he has to toggle wifi back on if he accidentally toggles it off? That seems simple enough to me..

Hi glasskuter,

Thanks for the response. I'm referring to the toggle button on the bottom right. It's an assisted living facility and he is in his early 80's. He also has bad vision. I did try to show him toggling it on and off, as that seemed simple enough to me as well. I was hoping there would be a way to disable toggling it on and off. That way once his wifi is on, if he hit the button it would do nothing. I'll try what you mentioned.

Thanks,

Thanks,
you can use sordum's tool to password protect changing net connectivity. just enable internet and can't change that setting without the password...

Hi Dacron, I'll check out that link. I was hoping to use a built in service or setting.
