UK users clocks go back an hour

This weekend the clocks in the UK really do change, forward one hour

Hello to BST in the UK, for anyone that hasn't changed their clocks in the UK yet we'll see you in October when the space/time continuum aligns with you again

Never used to change the clock in the car and it's funny how you get used to it.

Mine does it automatically

For some reason, my CCTV cameras have not updated the time this year (I think a firmware update caused it), I've just sent the last 30 minutes messing around changing the subnet on my PC and trying to remember all the IPs, username, and passwords for each camera so I could update them

My only real problem clock is the main clock in the lounge, this is battery powered and is high on the wall behind the computer workstation.

This morning whilst stretching to refit it I managed to brush against the bookshelf, which holds my Nature ID books - I managed to knock off several of these books which landed on my desk knocking several items across the room ( the books are quite large, approx 2" thick so landed with some force - the cat was whimpering behind the sofa for over an hour )

Well, now US have decided to not change annually, this is a PITA for those on our side of the Pond, as we will be thinking "do I have to add one hour, or remove one hour" when contacting US LOL. Is bad enough dealing with multiple timezones.

Actually, changing clocks has very little benefit in Scotland, particularly up as far as Aberdeen where days are very short in Winter and very long in Summer (I know keen golfers who have a round before work, day at work, then second round in evening).

The clock change "benefit" only really lasts about 4 weeks for average worker.

Everyone talks about it is for making it safer for school children, but I think we should consider things like cutting lunch hour to 30 minutes, and adjusting hours (15 mins less start/end in winter, 15 mins start/end in Summer), or just move school hours in Winter). I guess this will never happen as it is an emotional issue, and whatever solution is proposed will upset some parents, and politicians will just avoid the issue completely.

I am wondering how it will affect US - it is kind of UK perception that children do not walk to school anyway, but I am sure that is just because of movies set in big cities with high crime rates?

So how is the average US person taking this change?

Arizona (except the Navajo Nation) and Hawaii (and American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands) don't follow DST, and they survived. I personally could care less either way
