Unable to remove pin login from W11 enterprise (on Gaming/HTPC)

Hi,

I made my pin number in W11 enterprise for login details for my PC after setup. The problem is, even though I disable the login pin, it still shows up when I want to log into the pc. The pc is connected to the TV and used in steam big picture mode. Previously without making the pin, I can log into the pc, just pressing the power button and turn off the pc with the wireless Xbox one controller. Now there is an additional step where I need a wireless keyboard just to key in the pin. Any ideas how I remove the pin and directly log into my PC?

I'm confused, you log into the machine by shutting it down?

In a word, yes.

If you are already in Windows, then you are most likely already logged in, so in order to login again without using a pin, you must restart the computer.

If you want to log in automatically without a pin etc. you can always use AutoLogon, which is a part of the Microsoft Sysinternals Suite.

Run the program on the PC in question, punch in your log in details and it will do the rest when you click on Enable. In most cases, you can ignore the request for a domain name, so just ignore that, unless you actually have a specific domain name you need to use.

You should only need to do this once, then each time you reboot the PC it will bypass the log in screen and you will be automatically logged in.

I often see people post software links that pretty much do what can ultimately be done in windows without the software. I’ve not tried the Sysinternals Suite, possibly it can do things Windows can’t do alone, but logging in without a password or pin isn’t one of them? Netplwiz and turning off windows hello seems like such an easier solution?

Autologon allows you to bypass all the settings/reg entries etc. needed to achieve auto log in for Windows.

It is a small executable that comes in 32/64 bit versions that you run and simply type in your Windows log in details, click on enable and you are done. I don't think it could be any easier than that and since it is sanctioned by Microsoft, it is safe to use ... lol

Once enabled, you don't have to mess with it again, unless you wish to disable Autologon for some reason.

As I stated earlier, it bypasses the login screen and logs you in automatically every time you reboot the PC.

There are lots of useful utilities in the Sysinternals Suite as well. If you have not used it before, you may want to try it out.

As for the weather, it's miserable and wet right now ... lol
