Insider Update Stack Package 1201.2307.4011.0 for Windows 11 Insiders in Canary, Beta, and Dev


Microsoft has released a new Update Stack Package version 1201.2307.4011.0 to Windows Insiders in the Canary, Beta, and Dev Channel.

Through the Update Stack Package, Microsoft can deliver improvements to the update experience prior to the PC taking a monthly or Feature Update. The Update Stack Package will help ensure that your PC has the highest likelihood of successfully installing new updates with the best and least disruptive experience available.

Update Stack Packages will be delivered to Insiders through Windows Update just like builds and cumulative updates are. Insiders in the Canary, Beta, and Dev Channel can go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates to receive the Update Stack Package.

How can I manually reinstall this update, something broke on my system and it refuses to install via Windows update and i get all sorts of odd errors. Did an in place upgrade and it still refuses to install

Edit: I forgot to mention that you will need to take ownership first and include yourself in the security.

Followed the steps, but in the registry i was not able to get permission of the UUS folder.

Ok, sorted out the permissions, but when trying to add to the USS entry, says registry error. Seems like my install is borked.

Even tried to import the registry settings form a working PC, cannot import the registry entries.

I get this error when trying to install some programs now:

I am not sure if taken ownership of registry key is enough? But the procedure I gave you (taking ownership of the folder) never failed. After you are done you can revert the folder ownership to the original.

I can't take ownership of the registry, and the odd thing is the entries you mentioned are already in the registry

No, take ownership of the folder extract the package(1201.2307.4011.0) there and since you are saying that the registry in place, restart wuauserv service.

I use the Take Ownership option I added to my right click menu (instructions from this web site), but permissions are not granted so the folder cannot be modified.

Got the files across eventually, I had to copy the files in stages, files in the root of the 1201.2307.4011.0 folder, and then the language folder individually. No idea why

With the new files copied and the service running again, same error appears

Played around with the folder name, if I give it the name of the previous update, there are no longer any errors when trying to run programs, but it might not be working as expected. As soon as I need to create the correct folder, there are permission errors and all sorts of odd things happening

As a test I just did it again and it worked perfectly:-

If you manager to take ownership, extract there and you still having the same error I suggest the you should download again and start over.

Because the contents in there belongs to the old install.
The folder name will the new version when you extract it there or elsewhere and then copy/paste it there.

Yes, and I do have admin rights. I have even copied the files from a machine that had no issues installing and booted with the Hiren Boot CD (new version that uses Windows 10), copy all the files, rebooted into Windows 11 same issue. Even an in-place install did not fix the issue.

As mentioned earlier if I do any editing in the Registry on the key, it gives errors as well, and only this key gives errors.

Well, as you could see I have no problems here re-creating that folder as showed on Post #14.
If you aren't mistaken any step of the process... I guess you may need to repair your windows installation or try to analyze, repair it with DISM and update to see if Update Stack Package install automatically, if not, go over the instruction again.

I went to the location right-click on the UUS folder > properties > advanced, permission tab "Owner" click change and place yourself with full control and apply it.
