Solved Upgrading RAM Problem. Help!!

So I upgraded the RAM in my Daughter In law's computer from 24 gig to 32 gig on a MSI 990FXA GAMING (MS 7893) "My old computer I gave her" The motherboard maxes out at 32 gig at 2133 MHz. The 32 gig pack I installed was a Corsair VENGEANCE Pro 32GB DDR3 2400MHz OC. I figured that I could set the frequency in the BIOS to 2133 MHz and Windows would recognize that. I have never set frequency in the BIOS so I'm not familiar with it. So I Took some pics to help you help me. So pic #1 the frequency.



I then rebooted back into the BIOS to make sure the settings held. pic #2



I then booted into Windows and checked Task Manager to find this. pic #3



Running at 1066 MHz. I don't think I need to enable XMP as the RAM is 2400 MHz and the Motherboard supports up to 2133 MHz

So how do I get Window to recognize the 2133 MHz that set in the BIOS??

Multiply 1066 by 2. See what you get.

Tell you the true running RAM clock frequency can cause BSOD and application error problems, but you won't know without trying.

It is already at 2,132 MT/s. DDR = Double Data Rate.

Clock frequency of 1066 MHz is 2,132 MT/s data rate.

1. Google the RAM model number and find the manufacturer specs. Freq., timing, and voltage.
2. This is what you need to set in the BIOS. You need all three for things to work.
3. You'll need CPU-Z as well.

When you set a freq., you need to set the timings that match that freq. and the voltage that matches as well.
See step #1 above.

I only had one BSOD after the upgrade and it was a page error.

I can count on one hand the number of machines I've had that didn't have to underclock the RAM after being fully upgraded to its advertised capacity in the last 35 years, and none of them were on hardware designed for the average consumer. I think most manufacturers use the cheapest memory controllers they can find for most of their motherboards.
