I use Wumgr to download monthly Windows updates on my Windows Pro 11 23H2 system, where I had been deferring upgrade to Win 11 24H2 with InControl. On 5/27/25 I set InControl to “11” & “24H2” & "TakeControl" so that Wumgr could see and download Win 11 24H2. The Wumgr download and install seemed to go well, ending with "Windows 11 24H2 completed successfully. You need to reboot."

After reboot, however, Windows still showed “Windows 11 23H2.” Wumgr Update History showed six iterations of Win 11 24H2 "In Progress." Guidance from experts would be appreciated on how to complete the Win Feature upgrade to Win 11 24H2.

Thanks,
Harmonia

Get the 26100.4061 (24H2) version here...

000000 UUP Dump.webp

Then unzip the file you downloaded to your desktop and double click the item shown in the RED box.
This will "build" the latest 24H2 ISO image.

000000 UUP Dump combine command.webp

When it finishes (it will tell you when it's done), then use the ISO image to do an In-Place upgrade/repair...

Use Option #2, the ISO method, here...

The download is just the tool to make the ISO image.

Then unzip the file you downloaded to your desktop and double click the item shown in the RED box.
This will "build" the latest 24H2 ISO image.

Image1.webp

When it finishes (it will tell you when it's done), then use the ISO image it just created, to do an In-Place upgrade/repair...

Side note: Here's ten points, just for filling out your computer specs. :-)

OK, Gnot, I'll do that by Friday and report back. Once I have the huge unzipped file. The next step will be the over-the-top Windows repair. I have two days to pray that the the downloaded file doesn't have malware and that the in-Place upgrade/repair doesn't wipe out all my info on the system.
BTW, isn't there a safer way to create the required .iso file from a Windows download?

If you simply take the time to read Brinks tutorials, it will be extremely easy and both your questions, all your questions get answered. That’s why Brink takes the time to make the tutorials.
It’s why we (should) link people to the tutorials

I’d suggest you disable or uninstall any Update Managers for the time being and simply try Windows Update, first.
There is no logical reason (I don’t think) why the message would come back as 24H2 being successful and your not being actually updated. Unless of course one of those managers have intervened.

Option Two: The upgrade is performed with the downloaded ISO or using Installation Media

I will go with "Repair Install of Win 11 with in-place upgrade." My problem is that with Wumgr installed, I don't think Windows Update works any longer. So I'll have to try to create a downloaded .iso file. When I searched MS Update Catalog for "Windows 11 24H2 updgrade", I didn't get anything. Harmonia

It should, but have a look at my last post, you may have missed it.

I just had a look at Wumgr on GitHub. That was lasted updated in 2019. Maybe it doesn’t need an update or maybe it’s being neglected.

I use WAUManager. There are others.

Antspants, thanks for the excellent ideas. I'll be following up on your suggestions tomorrow. Also great concepts from Ghot, two Win 11 Masters. I'm not confident I'll get my upgrade licked by the weekend.

Zbook, thanks for detailed instructions, which I'll use this weekend, if solutions already proposed by Antspants and Ghot don't work. I'll let you guys know by next week. As always, I deeply appreciate the high level of support provided at Windows 11 Forum.
