I don't completely understand your reply. The OP stated that the USB cables won't fit in the new laptop and from reading this thread I don't see why they don't. I would think that on the side of the cable that plugs into the laptop should be either USB A or USB C. It's the end that plugs into the device is the end that is different. Instead of the OP using the laptop as a charger I posted an Amazon link to show that you can find inexpensive power adapters instead of using the laptop.
