The latest build of Vegas Pro (previously Sony Vegas, now owned by Magix) has had a big update released today.

The video engine is being overhauled with speed improvements on some video formats (AVC and HEVC). There is also improved smart masking using AI.
Some people have found problems with some format videos and rendering settings. I have tested video from my current and last two video cameras, from standard definition to 4k and they all worked perfectly. However, you should probably make a backup before upgrading so you can quickly revert if needed. I haven't tried the new features yet.
