Solved VMWare site down for getting VMWare products

I wanted to try out the latest update to VMWare workstation with dark mode etc

Well this is what you get when you try logging on to their site, While they might want to update their whole web site etc why on earth should a file server need to be out of commission for a HUGE company like VMware -- It's not "Joe's Caf - under the Railway arches". Just supply an FTP link while the main web site is undergoing changes. People downloading this stuff probably want to test it at the weekends and are knowlegeable enough to be able to handle FTP downloads.

VMware site back in business and working again properly. Latest release 16.2.3-19376536. Marking thread as solved.

Here's an XP VM running on latest release on Windows 11 build 25120-xxxx (insider Bev build) as Host. Access to Linux NAS server fine as well. as access to Windows Host machine.

I do prefer XP's Windows explorer and network map compared to (IMHO) the total rubbish that the file explorer has now become though -- the elegant simplicity of it - and the rediculous way you have to map and attach network drives in W11 is BONKERS.

I think thankfully the days of endless subscription services has passed -- if not I;' willing to give a course on using FREE KVM/QEMU as a VM - very efficient VM Hypervisor at that -- on Free Open Source Linux Distros.

I have absolutely no problems running any Windows distro - even as far back as Windows 95 on KVM/QEMU. !!!!

Yep guess anyone not willing to scruff it on linux can use hyperV for free seems easiest trail for most.

Seems to me that the mega days of VMWare are probably over as there's loads of free options these days or even bespoke ccloud infrastructure for businesses etc.

I rarely use it any more and then only on Windows. Hyper-V seems to have improved recently and there's always Oracle's VBOX too which works on the Windows platforms.

Doesn't seem to be worth paying as a private customer 160 USD or so for vmware workstation and if you use Esxi there's so many non free bits you need to make it useable.
