Hi folks
If anybody is running XP VM systems on W11 Host (or W10 even) with VMWare and wants to share / access large TB drives on the NAS (the large drives are of course on the NAS) - you'll need to enable SMB1 on the host and on the NAS in the Samba config file on the NAS to set max protocol="NT1" in the smb .conf file (latest SMB versions give error if you say SMB1 or SMBV1)
and also specify lanman auth=yes
ntlm auth=yes
You may need to enable ntlm auth in the local security policy on the host as well - probably not needed. Not sure about HYPER-V as host though.
Then full access to NAS drives whatever size.

cheers
