I have 6 monitors running, I need to be able to run more.

I have 4 plugged into a Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super OC 6GB (Nvidia)
I have 2 plugged in to my ASUS ROG Maximus VI Formula (Intel)

I have an old GeForce 640 that has another 4 inputs. (Nvidia)

What I am concerned about, is that the GTX 1660 and the GeForce 640 both need totally different Nvidia drivers.

How would/does this work? Would there be conflicts?

(I’d buy another GeForce GTX 1660 Super but they’re recently discontinued and I am having trouble finding the exact GPU that I recently purchased, that hasn’t got a ridiculous inflated price. The company I bought mine through have also discontinued their sale of them. Also, I am not prepared to invest due to the possible upcoming build)​

It’s anyones guess when I will do it, Ghot. Possibly not until I know more about Windows 12

I have to future proof. I have certain rules about my leisure toys (although I do use it for work, but who am I kidding?). This current PC has lasted 10 years.

If I were doing such a setup I would use identical GPUs. That way you would be using the same drivers. You wouldn't have to but identical monitors would make things easier to configure.

BTW, back in the late 1990's I used to set up systems that had 2, 4 or 8 monitors. The motherboard had 1 AGP and multiple PCI slots. We started out with CRT monitors but later switched to LCD monitors.

People need to get over worrying about Windows 12. Many people think that Microsoft may put off releasing Windows 12 this year. What would have been Windows 12 will simply be Windows 11 24H2. It is unknown whether there ever will be a Windows 12 or more updates to Windows 11.

I actually have 2 GeForce 640‘s, I could always place them on the board. But the 1660 is a great card so I’d hate to lose it, I still play games occasionally (a lot)

The only monitors that are identical are the 4 I have on the 1660 GPU, I use these for Adobe Photoshop. I also use the other two for Photoshop but only for toolbars and font programs and 3rd party AI rendering software.
The only similarity to the main 4 is that all monitors are LG and all (now) low end until the future upgrade.

I am not so much worried about it, it's more a case of the longer I wait, the better the hardware available.This would possibly better future proof a PC.

But I m still curious as to how the GPU’s will operate when they both need different Nvidia driver’s, and would there be conflicts?

If I was to NOT install the drivers available directly from Nvidia for the 640 and let Windows add the driver for the GeForce 640, would I be better off?

I don't think it is possible to have two different nvidea force drivers running on the same OS. You could get a different brand like AMD though or use the onchip graphics.

Ultimately, I suppose the only way to really know then, would be to plug in the 640 and see what hapens. I’d just rather of known because my motherboard is complicated and things would need to be moved around, like my PCI wireless antenna etc etc etc SO MANY CABLES IN THERE 😱

A discrete graphics card is normally a different brand and is handled by a separate graphics card app. From the integrated one of course. If you've only an integrated graphics card, your default graphics card software will manage it.
