Call it what you will I'm finding the price of gas and RAM and food in general rather gouging indeed. The supply didn't exactly evaporate. The supply simply got re-directed. These "artificial" shortages are a thing. With RAM we all know who bought it up. We had our preliminary experience when the Bit coin mining craze exploded and graphics cards started to triple in price. Interestingly enough graphics cards are still pretty expensive and the affordable ones are a joke. But I think there is more to this RAM deal than the media is telling us. Methinks the ultimate goal is to get the user dependence on RAM shifted to the server farms. . . The people who have been buying up all the RAM. And no, I'm personally NOT a big fan of AI -- at least not AGI and large language models seeing where they are going and the impact they have on society. But I'm old and it won't matter much to me personally when there are hardly any jobs left for artists, developers, and software engineers because AI is gonna do it all.

The "conspiracy theory" label is so lame. You cannot have a consortium if none of its members CONSPIRE. They have to. That's the whole purpose of a consortium. TCG is indeed a consortium. That's putting it politely. In fact, I agree with Cheaterslick. It would more accurately be called a cartel. Nothing can be done about it as it is an old game: Inflation and deflation. We, the plebs, must roll with the punches and pay the piper or do without. Myself, I have enough hardware in my basement to keep me busy for the rest of my life but I'm a dinosaur. I don't need the new stuff. In fact, if things keep on going the way they have been the price of RAM will be among the last things people will be worried about.

Yup, I never sugarcoat it. That's what it is. Big Tech is now the new Big Oil, or or new Big Steel or new Big Narco. A tech industry that was once a lot smaller and honestly run is now full of corrupt actors who's power and greed rule. The big push towards the cloud to centralize all this power, and now with AI added to the corruption and unaccountability, it will only get worse.

"But I didn't do anything. The machine did it, the machine did it, blame the machine, blame the machine" = The new version of "The devil made me do it, the devil made me do it" = no accountability.

And some people will call that some kind of 'tin foil hat fantasy'. The typical naysayer blow-off when they can't really debate what's going on around themselves. Well if that's supposed to be 'tin foil hat' then I'm proud to wear one. That's the price I'm willing to pay.

It already seems like ages ago when I stated that TPM2 was just the tip of the ice berg. One cannot have all these pieces fit together and coordinate unless the entire process is deliberately directed and orchestrated. IBM, CISCO, Microslurp, Intel, AMD, and over 100 high profile companies worked together (conspired) on this to put it together and yet some are still scratching their heads and wondering what ever generated such a huge demand for RAM that the manufacturing companies can't keep up anymore. OR, Why suddenly is there this exponential increase in the demand for RAM?? Well, it certainly isn't coming from the domestic end user. I rather doubt that the PC manufacturers were the prime cause. In fact, the market was becoming rather saturated until the TPM2 fiasco reared its ugly head. Indubitably, there was much speculation on the stock market. And now suddenly there's not enough RAM to go around. Who woulda thought? Suddenly Micron doesn't think the domestic market is worth catering to anymore. Yet the big 3 are reporting record profits in spite of it all. Anyone who points to the facts is apparently a "conspiracy theorist" and donning a tin foil hat. But the facts speak for themselves. Only those with the financial clout could have generated a demand so colossal. We are looking at the end of an age and the beginning of something other. He who has the gold makes the rules.

Yup. I feel bad for people who have to buy PCs for AI. I have tons of hardware to play with and I can live without it. Alas, having a functional PC isn't just about having fast internet speed. You can best believe certain groups are working hard at making browsers very difficult to use on older hardware.

Absolutely. None of this is news to those who know how to pay attention. Of course, this would only be counted as another conspiracy theory. GOOGLE already said, "Don't be evil" so we know they play fair. Poor Microsoft getting all those fines for making it so difficult to use other browsers apart from their own. Everyone knows that was just a conspiracy theory. They did nothing of the sort. And while we're on the subject, cartels are imaginary and there is no such thing as corporate monopolies. This is all just leftist Anti-American propaganda don'tcha know.
