I couldn't agree more. Distribution of wealth is a real thing. So what happens when both the distribution and the production is regulated, controlled, and operated by AI? When artists can't make a dime because AI can do it better and exponentially cheaper, when manufacturing only requires a small fraction of the staff they once required, when authors can no longer make a living writing books, or require AI to do it for them, when students merely let the machine complete their assignments while teachers simply let AI do the marking of the assignments... Where is all the revenue going to come from? Are the machines going to pay the machines?? Will money simply be eliminated? Will a universal living allowance even be enough? Nobody can give what they ain't got so it would stand to reason that a ULA would be inevitable. Will this mark the end of capitalism? Frankly, I think the whole thing stinks.

I likely won't live long enough to see where this goes, but the direction it is taking brings it to an apocalyptic conclusion.

Bear in mind that the manufacturer of this RAM (MICRON) no longer caters to the domestic end user. Hopefully they still honour their warranties.

Micron specifically stated in their press release that they would honor the existing warranties.

Pardon my skepticism but that sort of statement leaves plenty of play for legalese. In my view Micron has already abandoned we, the plebs, in favour of catering to they, the corps. What a great service I can look forward to if my RAM fails and the kit that cost me $84 CA is conveniently replaced with the pittance of it's inflated monetary remittance! *NOT* I rather doubt that it would be replaced with the actual physical kit (once upon a time standard policy) boasting the retail cost of over 4X that amount. Nor should I suppose that I would be looking at receiving a current cost remittance. Putting it plainly: "Dear sir, we are sorry your RAM broke. Here's 50 bux. You can now go purchase the same RAM for $450. A pleasure doing business."

I guess you can believe what you like. Micron is in the business of making money, so when the whole market moved to AI datacenters they logically went that way.

Oh pleeze. Micron is a corporation, beholden to their shareholders. Not a non profit organization. They go where the market and profit is. Capitalism 101. Same with Intel, AMD, Apple, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and the rest of them. Google began with a "Don't be evil" bylaw. Abandoned in 2018, as being evil proved more profitable.

Not exactly a strategic move unless Micron was losing money on the domestic market. Corporate gurus usually don't discount the advantages of a diversified market. Putting all one's eggs in the same basket is predominantly a recipe for failure. No matter how you slice it or dice it, the revenue comes from we the people. There is no guessing involved here. We are all free to believe what we will.

I quite agree. The corporate body simply calculates the price of lunch. It's never personal. Law of supply and demand is a universal principle. Eventually the culture will drown in its own excrement. Capitalism cannot thrive without FREE ENTERPRISE. Corporate monopolies are the enemy of healthy capitalism. They kill competition. WWII Germany provides a classic example. It's no great wonder the world is moving toward a cashless economy. At this rate we'll all be needing digital wheel barrels just to purchase a loaf of bread. Nothing personal, you understand.

That's a pretty big slice of the pie. Given their record profits this year that % should realistically be seeing 1/4 of the entire market soon enough. I used to be a big fan of Micron (silly me) but I'm from a time when ethics actually mattered. As AK6DN suggested, they've gone over to the dark side. Essentially, there are two sides in the world of tech today: Pro AI and Anti-AI. I don't confuse myself over which side is likely to bring us all under the rule corporate fascism. I would like to say I don't even care because I don't have long to live anyway. Alas, I have grand children. What more can a poor boy do? Our hands are tied.
