"This song is perhaps the most patient of all the Patience songs I juggled during the recording of the album. But the song felt so overwhelming and heavy that I never managed to record it. I'd also always heard another voice singing it inside me, and suddenly AURORA's voice started popping into my head on runs. Her own “Exist For Love” is one of my favorite songs this year, and I felt a vague kinship between these two songs.

I told her about the lyrics, and themes such as desire, love and dementia. What the body and heart remembers when the memory is slowly pulverized. And the person who is left behind, grieving and unable to forget. It seems that most people have experiences of dementia in our family in our time.

Two weeks ago I asked AURORA if she would sing “Alone In The Night” with me and she immediately said yes. A week ago we recorded it. AURORA elevates the song far beyond my most hopeful hopes. She possesses an exceptional musicality, a precision and a nerve that really touches me."
