Mint Cinnamon 22.1, (win 11Pro 24H2 rarely)
I booted to win11 yesterday for the first time in I think months ( to update my VZW payment method because I was too lazy to add Chrome to Mint for this once every 5 years thing).
Been happily running Mint Cinn 22.1 .
I was just reading a Will Fastie article on AskWoody (I am no longer a member there) about how adobie had "let down users again"(my paraphrase) and thought about how much time and energy AskWoody (and elevenforum)(and many others) puts into complaining about win and trying to get win to work.
What if all that energy were instead put in to helping folks move to, say, linux Mint?
Just a thought.
I won't follow this so flaming me will accomplish nothing.

Both at work and at home my main systems are all Linux :cool: I really only use Windows for gaming, and a few programs that have zero Linux support and I still support it at work from a security perspective.

I use Windows because for many years, the development tools I was using simply weren't available on either the MAC or Linux. That is slowly changing, but I've used Windows so long that I just don't feel like changing. However, I can acknowledge that Linux is used for a ton of commercial applications and it quite reliable. Linux also supports most of the stuff I do now. I'm still going to use Windows as I'm comfortable with it, and I don't feel like learning all the in's and out's of Linux. Yes, I have run Linux in the past for several unattended servers, and I've dabbled with it over the years. I have no doubt that I or many other folks could switch just fine, I just don't want to. :unsure:

I have no doubt the vast majority could not easily switch for one simple reason - MS Office (paid or leased).
Even a German State's atttempt to move to Linux was an unmitigated failure (main reason being incompatibility issues with the major tools needed for the state to function.

the problem with Linux is not doing what Windows does
its forever changing in directions that nobody knows.

i used Ubuntu for 20 years and it would be changed without anybody having a say.
unity .. which was the default Ubuntu desktop for a time
then systemd .. for those using Linux as a server it caused issues
snaps .. which is still an issue on Ubuntu, it is for me.

but .. Linux as a repair tool for Windows is a fantastic addition to any Windows tool box
and like any tool if you know how to use it even better results can be achieved.

Linux has its uses but it isn't for everyone.
