Why does launching Edge also launch Chrome?

Whenever I launch Edge, it also starts Chrome. Chrome is set as my default browser. Edge is set to not import from Chrome. All Edge background tasks are disabled. Looking for suggestions. Thanks.

Maybe check out Event Viewer?

Press Win + X, choose Event Viewer
Go to: Windows Logs > Application
Launch Edge and watch for any event logs that also mention Chrome being triggered.

Agreed. It happens however I launch Edge: from the Start menu shortcut or by going to the app folder and clicking on msedge.exe executable.

Nothing shows up in Event Log, unfortunately.

EDIT: Here's a possible clue: when I click on a PDF file and it opens in Edge, it does not also open Chrome.

Question: Are you saying when you open Edge, Chrome actually open a windows on your screen or will show up on your taskbar with a line under it that indicates Chrome is open OR are you saying when you open Edge it triggers a process in Task Manager for Chrome?

If an actual Chrome Window opens, what webpage does it open to?

I don't have chrome installed to test this, but Disable all extensions in Edge. Close Edge completely. Restart Edge. Does Chrome still open?
If it doesn't, enable your extensions one at a time til you find the culprit.

Report back.

I would completely uninstall Chrome then reinstall it.

Not a bad idea given that this started because I was looking for a way to have Chrome be my default for all browser/search events.

I thought Edge was so wired into Win 11 that it could not be uninstalled without breaking key functionality. Is there a reliable guide on how to uninstall it?

I use Revo..., I haven't witnessed any negative repercussions.
