In many aspects of life, Red means danger, stop, need to charge etc.

Green means ok, go, charged etc.

But here is the thing c. 8% of the male (genetically born for WOKE moron clarity) are red-green colour blind due to a defective X chromosome.

Amongst genetically born females, the instance is much lower at 0.5% as both X chromosomes need to be defective for a female to be defective.

Ok with e.g.. traffic lights, it is obvious (top os red etc.) but for many charging devices, I struggle to tell the difference.

It is just fundamentally dumb to use the two most common colour blind colours as "opposites"!

I was not allowed to join the RAF as a pilot because I could confuse warning signals.

It never occured to the RAF (or anybody) to change the colours e.g. Red for danger, Blue for ok).

I am not aware of an instance of red-blue colour blindness apart from extremely rare total colour blindness i.e. user can only see in monochrome (white, black and shades of grey).

There is an island in Norway and one in South Pacific where it affects the local population (less genetic diversity). But hey, they save a fortune on colour printers LOL.

Being in the same situation as you I can say that I never had a problem with traffic lights. As for red and blue, I have trouble with blue and purple. IMHO, the problem is that we see colors but not in the same way as others. Speaking for myself, some colors look exactly like another color. Blue and purple as an example.

Yeah - I have a very strong protanapia that does that to me as well.

The old rainbow colours menomic phrase

"Richard of York Gave Battle in Vain'

is simpler for me:

"You Bast*rds!“

As Red to green merge as Yellow and rest as Blue. I literally can only ever see two colours in a rainbow. I used to wonder wtf people were talking about when I was a child.

Cripes, even taking LSD would be a disappointment. No "ooh the colours man" for me LOL.

I have a pair of color blind glasses that does help a little. I would never wear them driving though.

With symbols, and colours for representing things, like charging in your example, I would find it easier in most cases if it just said what it meant. or just the first letter or something, at least.

For example, the product is charging, instead of green, it says CHARGED, and instead of red, it says CHARGING. Self explanatory.

If they can‘t fit this into a display, they can put the text, then a colon, and then a light that is either on or off in white.

I hate when they use colors that blend in with the other colors and we can't distinguish the difference. Here are two examples I ran into. 1. MS changed the colors on the pie graph that shows how much space is used and how much free space is available on your drives. I reported it in the Feedback Hub. It was fixed but I can't say for sure that it was from all the feed back in the Hub. 2. I was at a restaurant and on the specials menu I couldn't read the prices because the color of the price looked the same as the background color. I now for ashamed but I blasted the waiter and then the owner about it. My son was embarrassed but I felt so strongly about it that I didn't care. I don't know if it's included in the Americans with Disability Act or not but if not it should be. It is a disability.

But not a recognised one. I am very deaf - its nickname is the "hidden disability".

I have had people say to me "are you fecking deaf?" when I ask them to repeat something, and I point to my hearing aids - cue bright red faces LOL.

Colour blindness is weird as few really understand it. People's brains go to mush - they point at grass and say what colour is grass. I reply condescendingly "green" and they say "but you are colour blind". I reply seriously condescendingly "Even a totally blind man knows grass is green - Hell, Tom Jones sang a fecking song about it!"

One funny story is about a painting in a art museum by a famous artist (can't remember who) who painted a picture. Some patrons saw a little house painted in the corner, but majority did not.

At first the museum staff were puzzled until one of their staff was adamant he could see also see the house. It dawned on the experts that the artist must have been colour blind, and when the experts applied colour filters, the house was revealed LOL.

It rather tickles my sense of humour that there is an art form that only a few percent of the public can appreciate!
