Widgets.exe service is filling all the memory with Edge processes (7 at the same time currently)

What should I do to disable this? I use only Firefox browser.

ProcessExplorer says all these Edge processes are started by Widgets.exe

I tried:
* Disabling Widgets in the taskbar properties in SystemSettings - does not work
* Using Powershell: winget uninstall "windows web experience pack" - says it does not recognise "winget"
* Looked through all services - could not find this Widgets.exe.

Any ideas?

Yes, long ago. It is started by Widgets process as indicated by the Process Explorer.

Open the widgets panel and select Settings (the silhouette icon) in the upper-right corner.

Select Manage Interests at the bottom of the pop-up window to open Microsoft Edge.

Select the plus sign next to a category to prioritize those stories in your news feed. Close Microsoft Edge when you're done.

To remove stories you don't like, hover over a news story and select the Hide icon (the eye with a slash) in the upper-right corner. Your feedback helps Microsoft to finetune the stories it displays.

What are the stories? I said, I do not use MS Edge at all. What is Widgets panel? I never saw it anywhere. I do not want to use it. I use the Windows10-style taskbar. I want to free memory.

By hitting Win + W in Windows 11, you can bring up the widgets board. You can also do the same by hovering over the Widgets button on the left side of the Taskbar. On the board, you can add or remove widgets and even customize and rearrange them however you like, but you can't add them to your desktop.

I use Win key for switching the language, and I use Win10 taskbar, so there is no widgets button. And I do not need it.

As I said in the first post, winget is not recognized as cmdlet

I have disabled my Widgets feature in Windows 11 that sort all out, i don't know why it wont work for you.

So you did. You say you can’t find it anywhere, did you try re-adding/uninstalling?
