A dongle is a good option if you intend to use it elsewhere in the future. Most cheap dongles are garbage though...plus it occupies an extra usb-port that you may need for something else.Yeah this was my idea (easier long term that using a USB variant). Is it worth doing it at this point? Little confused now(my fault). USB 5.0 GHz dongle with antennae (or not) vs card? Sorry, I'm be a pain
If you're going to upgrade the laptop very soon, then I'd just live with the issue and worry about connection and network stability issues on the new laptop (if there will be any)
