Windows 11 Pro

Every time windows 11 file explorer starts (for example when I turn my computer on), it causes my preference setting for background to change from slideshow to picture. So I must manually reset it back to slideshow at least once per day. If is simply restart file explorer, the same thing happens. My windows version is the latest available. This problem has been ongoing since the release of Windows 11. My older backup computer also runs the same version of windows 11 and has never displayed this problem. How can I keep my personalization setting for slideshow?

Welcome to the forum :-)

Does your slideshow folder contain only images, no folders?
Is the currently configured folder location still valid?

Yes, there is one folder in the wallpaper folder. This is exactly the same configuration and same contents as I have on my older Win 11 computer. The older one works perfectly and always has. The new one has always had this problem. Both computers use high end MSI motherboards, 32GB of Vengeance RAM, and Ryzen 9 CPUs. I built the new one in 2023 and the old one 4 years ago.

Try removing that folder from your slideshow folder and see if that makes a difference.

The slideshow normally ignores folders and their contents, but in this case it maybe causing the slideshow to disable itself.
