Just did an In-Place upgrade from Win 10 Home to Win 11 Home, using an ISO file downloaded from Microsoft this morning.
It asked if I wanted to skip updates for now, I said yes, but it did them anyway. Took 30 minutes from start to finish.
Took another 30 minutes to do all my personalizations...

NOTE: Do NOT use the "Use Classic Taskbar" in Winaero Tweaker. It breaks the Start button. Do it manually if desired.

Well... I did an In-Place upgrade. Even though my comp passes all tests... I still haven't been offered the update to Win 11. :)

I did the upgrade a little while ago using the Windows Installation Assistant. All told it took about 30 minutes. Of all my program files I only had to re-register Photoshop CS6. Everything else appears to be working fine, including game controllers, head tracking, audio system, among others. Getting to old to mess with doing a clean install, I don't have the patience I used to have. Just have to check out my printer to see how it does.

Does the In-place Upgrade method still work for when you want to install a fresh copy of Windows 11, without losing any of your files, programs etc?
I'm on the current build 22000.376, which seems to be the latest general release version so I'm assuming I can just download that ISO to use for the in-place upgrade?

If you mean to do an in-place upgrade/repair installation, then yes, you can. Just download the latest ISO (repair can be done with same or newer build) open it and run Setup. If your computer is not compatible with Windows 11, all you need to do is delete the file C:\Windows.~WS\sources\appraiserres.dll from setup cache to bypass compatibility check. Make sure you download same language, or you won't be allowed to upgrade. Also before proceeding click on the "Change how..." message and then select "Not now" (do not use Windows Update during installation) to avoid any BSOD. I have repaired faulty Windows many times with an in-place upgrade. Unlike Windows 95/98/XP that you simply boot the CD-ROM, and then install on the C:\Windows folder to repair, Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10/11 need an in-place upgrade to repair. This is actually not that good, since if you cannot load Windows at all, you are doomed, while in XP and earlier you could fix it.
