Win11 one-click substitute for the large clock display popup via system time in Win10?

I just got a new laptop and it came with Win11 - Version 22H2 (OS Build 22621.819).

The first thing I missed from my old laptop running Win10 was being able to click the system date/time in lower-right corner and have the time displayed in large numerals on the pop-up.

Can anyone recommend any one-click replacement app that I can pin to my taskbar? Preferably no frills, just display the time or date/time and use few resources. Thank you.

You can download and install the Explorer Patcher. It adds many Windows 10 features in Windows 11 including the taskbar right-click menu and others. I am not sure if it has any setting for time, but it doesn't harm to try.

@Ghot Which one do you recommend as being the best fit? I just want to be able to click one thing and see a large digit clock similar to clicking the system clock in win10. Thanks for your help.

The Clock gadget is always on screen like in Windows Vista and 7. If you want to click on the taskbar and see the clock you may consider Explorer Patcher or Open Shell.

@spapakons Yes I'd like to click something on the taskbar, as there will always be several windows open covering the desktop. I don't know what Explorer Patcher is or Open Shell? Just want something simple and no frills, preferably something that doesn't alter the native win11 much or at all so I can continue to get used to vanilla. I wish for the win10 clock pop-up to come back but not holding my breath...

Explorer Patcher restores some features of Windows 10 that were removed from Windows 11. I mostly use it to restore the right-click menu of the taskbar, but it does many more. Download it and see. Open Shell is used to replace the Windows 8 or higher start button and start menu from that of earlier versions, such as Windows 7 or XP. Many of us find the Windows 7 start menu more familiar and easier to use, so we restore it with Open Shell or other similar utility. I am not sure if this also restores the clock on the taskbar, try Explorer Patcher first.

That's up to you.

They're all just... clocks. I think you'll like 8gadget best.

No, the clock gadget will display on the desktop only and it may be hidden from an open application. But you could click or the right edge of the taskbar to minimize all windows and see it.

Yeah you can. It takes a bit to get it set up... but it looks like this.

Click the icon to show or hide the clock. There's many different clocks.





You can change it to a 12 hour clock... It has an alarm clock you can use.
8gadget has a ton of stuff you can do with it. You just need to play around with the settings.
There's tons of them.

There's settings in...

1. The START menu location
2. The sidebar itself
3. And for each gadget.


Like, these are just in the START Menu location...






There's 3 pages of gadgets that come with the program.

You'll be playing with it for a while.


If you ever decide to uninstall it, I recommend using REVO uninstaller (free), and using it's scan for leftovers options.
It's a pretty complex program, and the regular uninstaller(s) just don't seem to remove everything.
But REVO will get all of it.

I use REVO to uninstall anything I want to uninstall. ^^


Accept no substitute....





NOTE: 8Gadget scans clean locally and at Virustotal...

Ofc, you can also get tons of clocks at Microsoft Store...

In that case pick any clock you like and pin its shortcut to the taskbar. When you want to see the time click on the shortcut to see the clock.

I own Revo, excellent program.

I did look through the clocks in the store but was hoping to avoid so much research for such a little thing. So I asked for recommendations (which implies experience) in case anyone knew of a good fit.

I use the clock gadget or see time in the taskbar. To use the gadget download and install 8gadgetpack.

I got off my lazy butt and found "full screen clock" in Microsoft Store, no frills, free, pinned it to my taskbar and click to pop up. For me good subsitute. Thanks for all the suggestions.
