Solved Windows 11 23H2 update error for 3 months + search bar and menu search not working

Hi everyone.

My current Winver:
Yet, for the past 3 months is showing an update to be done, maybe every two weeks forces to install update and then each time I try it rollbacks on 97% of install features with message "something went wrong"

Install Log here: WindowsUpdate.log

I have done all the:
net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
net stop appidsvc
net stop cryptsvc
Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.old
Ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old
net start bits
net start wuauserv
net start appidsvc
net start cryptsvc
Run SFC and DISM Tools
Restart your PC then try to update again.

Used:
script-wureset-main
Fix WU
FixWin11

Even tried the standalone update KB5027397 that gives error message that already exists, so why it keeps on showing and I can't use search bar?
Also, each time Repair Windows shows, I try it, but when rebuilding the update list it fails downloading the repair update.

I suggest a repair install with an in-place upgrade.
Since windows update is part of what is broken, you would need to use option #2.

I’ve seen posts where people have had issues with Windows Update and have tried many things (like you) and then tried the following app. I am not saying it will work for you but it’s worked for others.

I had the same problem with the Search option not working. I tried ALL available YouTube videos with zero success.
Until the last resort was mentioned: Open another User Account. So I opened another User account with Admin privileges. That gave me access to the Search bar. but to my very surprise, when I opened my first account again the search bar was back as normal. I deleted the second account again and my search bar was still available. It still works fine now. :)

Thanks for the all the replies, but I gave up, backup to second drive and format + Windows install. No issue till now, besides the times lost trying to fix it and now having to reinstall everything back *sigh*

Load your PC, make sure you’re happy, make an image backup.
At least then you’ll have a decent point to go back to.
