Dear guys good morning.
I am Italian and I apologize for my bad English.
I've been following this interesting forum for a while now.
I have a Desktop system that is not compatible with windows 11, but I also installed a partition with windows 11 in multi boot with windows 10 and Linux systems, using a registry modification installation to circumvent the incompatibility of the TPM and UEFI bios check.
Everything works for now, but I only have problems with my TS8050 multi-function Canon printer.
With the first installation of the Windows 11 Insider Preview version 22454.1000 (rs_prerelease) amd64, from UUP DUMP, I was able to get both the printer and the scanner working, but after the latest updates the printer no longer works, and it gives me connection problems and does not respond by remaining in a state of suspension. I hope that with future updates they can solve the problem.
I have tried all options, installing the original drivers but they crash and do not complete the installation. I tried with Microsoft's generic TS8000 series driver, but it doesn't work anymore.
Has anyone else had these problems with their printers?

Good day everyone.

A bit weird. If it worked on previous build it should also work now.
I don't have much idea to help as I'm with different Canon printer. But you can still try this in case you haven't.
Try installing drivers with compatibility mode. Pick up any available previous Windows.

If it installed but still having trouble, you can open the setting.
Who knows it gives some clue about the issue.

22454.1000 is a recent Dev build, the issue is that recently the Beta branched off from the dev and the dev has been reset to have items added and tested for use with the next update, (likely to be anything up to one year away).

The beta build is currently at 22000.194 and this build should still work with the printer as a previous build did.

The issue is that due to the split between Dev & Beta builds you will need to perform a fresh install of 22000.194 or an update install could be used on a windows 10 install (you could clone your current W10 Build on the disk currently on the Dev build and then update with 2200.194. this would also retain all your applications and drivers)

I apologize for the delay in replying.
Thank you very much for the information given by CB and Nigei.
After several tests I realized that by uninstalling the updates from the Dev Insider version I was able to get the printer working again, but the Windows version had a deadline of October 29th.
I then decided to do a clean install from the Beta branch, and now the built-in printer and scanner works fine.
Thanks again for the valuable suggestions.

I wish everyone a wonderful day. :)

It looks like the 22000.194 - the latest in the BETA channel, may well turn out to be the RTM, as I was offered it in the Release Preview channel this morning

I was also offered the official upgrade this morning that I actually declined as I am busy with other things [I tend to receive updates two to four weeks before release] - what this does mean is that they are on schedule for the reported release

Unfortunately I continue to have problems with the printer in question.
Now the situation seems less serious, but just as annoying, when I launch the first print after turning on the computer (the following ones are fine) I get a warning that the printer has problems and cannot print. Then I open the "printers and scanners" settings and start the troubleshoot button in my printer configuration. After starting the troubleshooter, the printer prints the document that was in the queue, without reporting any type of error found.
This situation, since I now have the final version (2000.194), is very annoying, since with Windows 10 these problems do not exist. Too bad, because everything else works fine and I'd like to find a workaround that would also make it work with Windows 11.

If anything comes to mind, please let me know.

Thank you guys. :)

it appears the Canon TS8050 model is of either Cyprus or European region as that specific model is not available where I reside (I'm in USA)

when it comes to Win11 support, Canon is really behind schedule as they currently have no support info about Windows 11 (I've recently searched for anything about Win11 on all the Canon support sites and have come up empty); therefore Canon printers are not yet officially supported under Win11.

@catalex54: try contacting Canon support from your local region and ask them when Windows 11 specific drivers will be available for your printer (link to contact Canon Europe support)

Thank you very much Erpster for your kind interest.
I will try to follow your suggestion, although I doubt that Canon can be activated on a request from a few people.

Take care.

Dear Alessio, thanks for your report.
However, I wanted to communicate to everyone that (crossing my fingers) after configuring in the printer driver settings the enabling of automatic power on when I have to print, it has been working regularly for two days without having reported errors.

Great achievement!

interestingly enough, the Canon USA support site does have Windows 11 support info but the other Canon support sites from other regions (like Canon Europe) have nothing about Windows 11.

the closet USA model to TS8050 might be a TS8020, which does have Windows 11 as a selectable/supported OS on the USA Canon site.

might also want to try to install the recently released KB5006674 cumulative update for Windows 11, which may improve compatibility with your Canon printer (and includes some recent security fixes).

Dear Erpster, what you say is very interesting, could you please send me the link of the Canon USA page where to find the drivers for Windows 11 of the TS8020 printer?
I couldn't find it.

Thanks again.

Very interesting Alessio, thanks for the information.
For the moment I'm staying with my TS8050, still fully functional with Windows 10 and Mint 20.2 in multi-boot.
For the moment I have managed to get it to work with Windows 11 as well.

See you soon and good evening.

better yet, install the recently released KB5007262 update for Win11, which seems to resolve much of the printer issues with Win11

most of the printer problem fixes listed by MS for this update:

Updates an issue that might cause your device to report that it doesn't detect a printer after you plug it in.
Addresses an issue that causes certain USB Print installers to report that they don’t detect the printer after you plug it in.
Addresses an issue that affects USB Print devices that support Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) Over USB. This issue prevents these USB Print devices from completing installation.

so at least MS is fixing the printing problems on their end with this recent W11 update

There are also updated win 11 drivers for TS8050 multifunction printer on this site
