Afternoon All! My Windows 11 File Explorer has an area above the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) that is similar to the pic below ...

explorer.jpg

This isn't my desktop, found the image from a google search. My screen has two MyName - Personal entries :(.

Anyway, ...
  • what is the red area circled called?
  • how do I edit it?
  • can I remove it?
  • any other comment that might prove useful in this situation?

By default the section includes Home, Gallery and Onedrive. When all items are removed from this section the section will go away.
Home- Add or Remove Home in Navigation Pane of File Explorer in Windows 11 Tutorial
Gallery - Add or Remove Gallery in File Explorer Navigation Pane in Windows 11 Tutorial

The following tutorial for Onedrive was written in 2021 to remove Onedrive from the navigation pane and is not marked as being obsolete.
Onedrive- Add or Remove OneDrive in Navigation Pane of File Explorer in Windows 11 Tutorial
However, I do see a remark from @Brink dated in 2023 where he says Onedrive does not respect being moved.

In my case I do not see Onedrive in my navigation pane at all because I use a local account that is not syncing to onedrive and I completely uninstalled the Onedrive app. When I use Onedrive I do it entirely on the web, not using file explorer. I have nothing above Quick Access in my navigation pane. Also, rather than removing Home from the navigation pane entirely as mentioned above, I chose to move it from top of navigation pane to the bottom. It now appears right above This PC. There's a number of tutorials involving the navigation pane and file explorer in general. Here' an alphabetical index.

That worked perfectly. My guess re why I had two versions of OneDrive was that I had it added for ALL users and added for CURRENT user. I removed one and now I only have one :).
