Fixes for known issues​

  • We fixed the issue causing devices with mobile broadband connectivity to not be able connect to a wireless network due to an issue in which the APN configuration may get lost on upgrade with Build 25921.

Snipping Tool Update​

We are beginning to roll out an update to Snipping Tool (version 11.2306.43.0 and higher) to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels. This update introduces new buttons to edit in Paint for screenshots and edit in Clipchamp for screen recordings.

You can download the latest Windows Insider SDK at aka.ms/windowsinsidersdk.

SDK NuGet packages are now also flighting at NuGet Gallery | WindowsSDK which include:
These NuGet packages provide more granular access to the SDK and better integration in CI/CD pipelines.

SDK flights are now published for both the Canary and Dev Channels, so be sure to choose the right version for your Insider Channel.

Remember to use adaptive code when targeting new APIs to make sure your app runs on all customer machines, particularly when building against the Dev Channel SDK. Feature detection is recommended over OS version checks, as OS version checks are unreliable and will not work as expected in all cases.

About the Canary Channel​

The Canary Channel is the place to preview platform changes that require longer-lead time before getting released to customers. Some examples of this include major changes to the Windows kernel, new APIs, etc. Builds that we release to the Canary Channel should not be seen as matched to any specific release of Windows and some of the changes we try out in the Canary Channel will never ship, and others could show up in future Windows releases when they’re ready.

The builds that will be flighted to the Canary Channel are “hot off the presses,” flighting very soon after they are built, which means very little validation and documentation will be done before they are offered to Insiders. These builds could include major issues that could result in not being able to use your PC correctly or even in some rare cases require you to reinstall Windows. We will offer limited documentation for the Canary Channel, but we will not publish a blog post for every flight – only when new features are available in a build.

Our Canary Channel won’t receive daily builds; however, we may ramp up releasing builds more frequently in the future.

The desktop watermark you see at the lower right corner of your desktop is normal for these pre-release builds.

For the last three Canary builds, it causes one of my programs (Hypack) not to start. I have used the troubleshooter to no avail. The program is updated quarterly which surprises me it will not run. I have had to roll back to get it operational again. Once interesting is even the uninstall option for this program (....was attempting to uninstall and reinstall) does not start.

On 4 machines right after updating to 25926 it was still failing,
kept failing when hitting "Retry" on the failing update,
then I hit "Retry all" and it downloaded some other updates and again Windows "Idiocy" Update, and this time it completed. 🤣🤣😉🤷‍♂️

Mine had got into a state where it said 'retry', but clicking that or 'Retry all' gave no error and did not even attempt to check for updates. It just reverted to saying 'retry' all the time. After at least half a dozen times of trying that it finally said 'checking for updates' and then showed this. 🤷‍♂️

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

There were 2 choices showing, "Retry" on the failing Intelligence Update or "Retry all" above.
The Retry kept failing every time, the Retry all found something else to download and that got it working.
I think that was also the case in my machines it had to find something else to download to finally download the Windows Intelligence again and complete the installation. In your case it found a Defender update. 😵‍💫🤷‍♂️

Mine looked a little different from that, there was no 'update failed' (instead it said updates available, if I remember correctly) and there was no 'install error - 0x80070057'. Also, clicking on 'Retry' or 'Retry all' did nothing, no 'installing' or any error message, just flickered a bit and return to saying 'retry' (without any error message). I must have clicked 'Retry all' more than half a dozen times before it eventually checked for updates and finally installed this laughably inappropriately named 'Intelligence' update.

Yes, I had the error listed then. But as others have noted, if you leave it for a day the eror code disappears and it reverts to just saying updates available with 'retry'. That was the state it was in before I finally got it to install.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Beta as native boot vhdx.

Now we'll see how long it takes to solve the windows 10 bug 0x007000d. 😎

This morning WU showed the same error so tried 'Retry All' and it worked.
