Hello Windows Insiders!

Today we are making Windows 11, version 22H2 Build 22621 available in the Release Preview Channel for Windows Insider Program for Business participants to validate on devices in their organizations.

Commercial devices* configured for the Release Preview Channel via the Windows Insider Program Settings page or via Windows Update for Business policy, whether through Microsoft Intune or through Group Policy, will automatically be offered Windows 11, version 22H2 as an optional update provided that the device(s) meet the hardware requirements. Windows 11, version 22H2 is also now available via Windows Server Update Service and Azure Marketplace. You can learn more about deploying and validating this upcoming version of Windows 11 here. Should any issues arise, IT admins in these organizations can request free Microsoft Support. This support offer is intended to help resolve issues with commercial-specific scenarios and is limited to the Windows 11 Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions.

*Note: We consider a device a commercial device if it is not running the Windows 11 Home edition AND is being managed by an IT administrator (whether via Microsoft Endpoint Manager or other management solution) or has a volume license key or commercial ID or is joined to a domain.

We are also making this build available to any Windows Insider in the Release Preview Channel via our “seeker” experience in Windows Update. This means Insiders currently in the Release Preview Channel that meet the Windows 11 hardware requirements can go to Settings and Windows Update and choose to download and install Windows 11, version 22H2 Build 22621 if they want. Once an Insider updates their PC to Windows 11, version 22H2, they will continue to automatically receive new servicing updates through Windows Update (the typical monthly update process). My update failed with multiple GSODs.
The cause appears to be asmtxhci.sys errors, which is the ASMedia USB 3.x XHCI Controller driver. But it's the latest driver.
I'm doing an image restore now.

There hasn't been a desktop watermark, or an expiry date shown in Winver, since the Beta build 22610.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

After installing this update, instead of "Picture", "Solid Color" was set as my desktop background and all my recent desktop background images had disappeared. Only the Windows 11 default ones were there. No problem. I have them saved.

I set my desktop background back to "Picture", but as I set my images as desktop backgrounds, it doesn't show my recent images. It only shows the current one, plus the default ones.

Is this happening for you?
Edit: If I use the Choose a photo > "Browse photos" button in Personalization > Background, they're remembered. It only happens when I use the "Set as Desktop Background" context menu from my image viewer.

Because even uupdump website shows 6th June one is outdated and has errors when clicking on the browse file list. Pick a newer one with 7th June date and with a short name: "Windows 11, version 22H2 (22621.1)". There's 3 different ones to choose from, no clue why 6th June is or was included on the website if it's broken: "Windows 11, version 22H2 Insider Preview 10.0.22621.1 (ni_release) amd64".

You can always go to uupdump and select on the main page: "Latest Release Preview Build" then scroll down to get latest Win10 or Win11.

Otherwise if on top of the homepage you clicked on the label tag "Windows 11 22H2", then look carefully at the dates and names, their not in correct order and to avoid downloading non working script or spending more time on getting a script downloaded, extracted and opened you should check if "Browse list of files" is working correctly or if it shows error, do that simple quick check before downloading any script *.zip files.

I rolled back to 708. Apart from the new Task Manager and thumbnail previews on folders, there's really not much to celebrate with this build. I really hope that Win12 will be something new and useful, rather than an OS touched up with useless and bad makeup.

Problems since upgrade to this build: Sticky Notes have to be reloaded at each restart/boot. Sound was not active (system sounds) after upgrade. Video flickering off and on and difficult to sustain picture on monitor. SFC reports no errors detected, however.

Sure once the Beta and RP builds are the same, you can switch between them but tbh is pointless as the Beta and RP builds have reconverged, and will not be any different not until RTM is released.

Post RTM, Beta will eventually diverge to prerunner of next RTM, so changing now does ensure you do not eventually diverge from current RTM of course.

In the end, the period of divergence and reconvergence of Beta from RP for W11 post initial release has been so brief, if you blinked you could have missed it LOL.
