Windows 11 loading circle are moons?

Has anyone noticed that the loading circle, with the chasing dots, that's shown when loading into windows isn't actually just dots but seem to be modeled? I may just be losing my mind, but they definitely look three dimensional. It's fairly subtle, but it looks like little tumbling moons or asteroids.

Is it just my display, or something?

Honestly I've never noticed. I turn mine on and go make a coffee, auto starts into Windows. I am not sure that I have ever seen it.

Those dots are actually characters in a font. The rendering engine can render fonts very rapidly and efficiently, so that's what they use. Each individual representation of dots is a different character in the font.

I couldn't even boil the kettle in the time it takes my laptop to boot - less than forty seconds.

Mine doesn’t take long, but I’ve never actually timed it :D

I turn it on, maker an espresso with my bean to cup, go outside, check for snakes before I sit and roll a smoke. Just my morning process.

In Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11 21H2/22H2 you see dots spinning in a circle. I don't think it is a font, it must be graphics. In Windows 11 23H2 the dots are replaced by curves spinning in a circle. I have seen it many times, they are just plain curves, there are no other gray shades to suggest a 3D picture, only the black background and the white spinning curves (formerly dots). Maybe you see an optical illusion. Press the "auto" button on your monitor and see if it makes any difference after automatically adjusting the picture.

Must be some rendering artifact, then, leading to the illusion of dimension. Or maybe my imagination just likes me better than yours do you. :wink:

Moiré effects on a not perfectly calibrated monitor can cause some visual effects. If you have a PC press Auto on the monitor (or select it from the on screen menu) to auto calibrate and eliminate Moiré effects. Or just wait for the mushrooms to wear off :p

If you wish to play the old Snake game of mobile phones, you can install Kemulator: KEmulator - Emulation General Wiki
This is a Java ME emulator and can load and play all these good old mobile Java games. Google for Java mobile games and download your old favourites. If you want to play the original arcade version (aka Nibbler) you can download MAME emulator and the Nibbler ROM.
