How to fix that? Even IDM that I always put in the right corner would be moved on the left side of the screen, never had that problem? It seems to appeared after upgrading to 24H2. It usually happens after monitor turns screen off after some time, but I think that I saw that happening even randomly.

Hi Ozzy

Two things I have noticed with my upgrade install of 24H2

(Running 6 monitors)

1. When the system wakes from sleep, the monitors seem to struggle to show for about 10 seconds, then bad lag for another 5 seconds. It’s almost as if Explorer.exe has been restarted.

2. When alt tabbing out of a game, the monitors act the same as above. Again as if Explorer.exe is restarting.

I meant to add that this can cause some of my open apps to move, sometimes they switch to a different monitor.
Which IMO is bloody weird.

Yeah, plus when my screen turns off after ten minutes (because I set it like that), and when I move the mouse, my Chrome or Firefox windows would be small and resized, but my monitor resolution would still be the correct one, strange. And the little IDM window from the bottom right corner moves to the specific middle left side, always the same one, also strange, which never happened prior to updating to 24H2, it always remembered the position, and browser windows would never be resized after I move the mouse when the screen was off.

I've had a similar problem since getting my Optiplex 7010 Tower Plus a couple of weeks ago - when the monitor was turned off (either manually or when it went to sleep) or the system was awoken from hibernation/sleep, some windows would be repositioned to the top left and resized.

It seems to have been caused by the DisplayPort on the pc - I started using a new cable today, DisplayPort to VGA, and the problem has gone.

Might be something similar with you. Just a thought...

Well yeah, I am using DP, but didn't have that problem until upgrade to 24H2. So it shouldn't be a cable problem.

It's not a cable problem. No issue here until 24H2 upgrade. And also I'm HDMI - HDMI.

Well I can't comment as when my pc arrived I did the updates, so I've only been using the same W11 version myself. But my issue wasn't with the cable, it seems to have been with the DP protocols, as I could hear device disconnect and reconnect sounds when the monitor was turned off and came on again.

Again, just a thought :-)

I get a permissions error from Feedback Hub after clicking your link. Do you remember the wording that you used in your report, so that I can try to search for it?

Exactly the same issue for me after updating to 24H2. Upon waking my PC from idle, one or more windows get resized and moved to the upper-left corner. It's very annoying.

Windows 11 24H2 resizing and moving open windows after turning display off/on is the title in Desktop Environment > DWM.
