Windows 11 Update 06/05/2026

Started install today at 3:00 pm/ Finished at 6:30 pm with nothing running on a fast Laptop, fast Internet. It finished at 6:35pm with NOTHING running. My wife has identical machine and was also having major slow downs. I purchased a Chromebook at X-Mas for her. Windows 11 has become a nightmare of delays. I have been a Windows users for many years and was an executive in IT for many years. I supported and had may installs for Microsoft. However, the system is now SO Slow as to be unusable. Shame on MS.

Sorry you have issues. I can only speak for myself here, but I have experienced very few issues with windows 11.
You do not give much detail about exactly what issues you are having. "Major slow downs" can be many things.

Of course blame the operating system. What's the model number of your Chromebook, is it underneath the Chromebook?
Have you considered that it's the Chromebook?

We hear that a lot in here, from people who post problems, yet they still face issues. So it doesn't really mean anything.

The servers Microsoft use do not inspect your PC for guidance to distinguish at what pace they should operate. Microsoft's servers are fickle. But you're an ex "executive in IT" so you probably already realise that.

It was most likely the server & the Chromebook combined. People expect too much from a laptop. If you were to start over, you may or may not experience a different result, as everyone generally does.
