Solved Windows 11 Updates question

I use my PC just to check up on emails and then do a little bit of browsing and then I shutdown my PC fully after each session.

I guess this means that I am not really a Power-User.

The Windows Automatic Updates Group Policy settings are set to Configure Automatic Updates to (4) Auto-Download and Schedule the Install Time to AUTOMATIC and set to (0) EVERY DAY.

My question is, does the Windows Updates check for the Updates right after the PC boots into the Windows desktop to initiate the Updates checks and then fetch the Updates if there ready to be downloaded?

From what I had researched, the Windows Updates checks for Updates every 22 hours.

But will it automatically check for Updates right after the PC boots into the Desktop?

On new installs, Windows checks for updates almost immediately after installation because a new installation is considered to be out of date by default.

As for ongoing updates, the time interval between checks is a random time between 22 to 36 hours to avoid millions of systems from all checking at the same time.

Also, Windows performs automatic maintenance tasks once per day during which it will check for updates.

As for wehat hapopens after first booting your system...

Windows checks how long it has been since the last update check. If it is longer than the usual check interval it can start a check for updates almost immediately.

How come the Windows Updates security patches takes forever to download?

Almost certainly because while its downloading WU is checking and verifying there are no errors before the install starts.

Could also be Microsoft servers applying throttling so that bandwidth can be shared by more people downloading at the same time?
