You do not need to double click it. Click once to open calendar and notifications, click again to close it. Simple.

Nothing happens when I click on the time/date area after it's opened. Only was I have been able to close it is to go to the top of the notifications title and drag it to the right edge of the screen which does close it but I can't get it to open again clicking on the time/date area.

Click on time to open, click again to close.

Click on time to open, click anywhere else (not on the calendar) to close.

Click on time to open, hit ESC key to close - but, I have to hit ESC twice, will not close only tapping it once, it simply selects the top notification upon hitting ESC. If there is no notification, it selects the current date in the popup-calendar, and still requires a second ESC press to close.

That was the only way it worked a few days ago other but escape does nothing. All I can do now is drag the top of the title bar for notifications to the right hand side of the screen, it will disappear but I can't open it again.

Yes, the error is I have to kill and restart Explorer.exe and then it will close correctly when opened so basically Explorer.exe has ran out of resources or something.

All the methods work except they only work after I kill explorer.exe and start it again. I would have thought that you can click anywhere except the taskbar itself to close since would you be opening other things if you clicked on something on the taskbar?

As for the ESC key, it works for me just hitting ESC once.

Thanks everyone for your help!
