windows 11 wifi network priority

How does windows 11 wifi network priority work? I was looking at this. My computer keeps connecting to my number 6 wifi network. My number 2 wifi network has a way stronger signal and better speed but it never connects to that network.

Method 1: Change Wi-Fi Profile Priority (Command Prompt)
This ensures Windows 11 connects to your preferred network first when multiple are in range.

1. Open Command Prompt or PowerShell as administrator.
2. View existing profiles: netsh wlan show profiles.
3. Change the order: netsh wlan set profileorder name="NETWORK_NAME" interface="Wi-Fi" priority=1.
4. Replace NETWORK_NAME with the actual SSID and 1 with the desired priority.

I did both of those things. That did not help.

This diagram lists your networks in order of what Windows thinks their priorities are.
- Does it match your intentions?
- If so, you might have set the priorities but forgotten to set the autoswitch settings for each network.

I use an Admin-level batch script to set all my priorities & autoswitch settings at once so that I can quickly get back to those I want when Windows forgets them.
Actually, I say "Windows forgets" but changes can also be made inadvertently by manually choosing to connect to a particular network - Windows assumes you want that to be your new priority 1 network..
