Solved Windows defender has gone MAD! (false positive-ing Tons of files)

i need to permanently disable windows defender, it keeps deleting normal files and thinks everything is a virus! its deleting nvidia drivers and new apps i install. its thinking everything is a "Virus:Win32/Grenam.A" for now i have disabled what i can see like real time scanning and other check boxes as well as added the entire C drive to the exceptions list

Perhaps I'll use a 3rd party antivirus once to do a scan to verify if it's ok but it's a brand new windows installation in which I installed no dubious apps since then.

However, if you cached (kept them in an easily accessible location) your driver installers and programs, and your machine was previously infected (and you didn't know it), the infection could have spread to the installers that you kept around.

Rather than disabling Defender, your best course of action is to disconnect it from the network and do an offline scan like Fabler said - and I'd use more than one alternate offline scanner that you download from another machine not on your current network.

Sordum will probably fix it, but that is the reason I have installed a light AV, just to disable Defender. I got tired playing cat and mouse.

I just checked, and Windows Defender is still disabled.

I saw a user comment at Sordum stating that, but it doesn't appear to have affected me .

After today's fiasco with the newest dev build and a JSON seemingly trying to load an ad to use the new Teams breaking the Desktop shell, I'm getting there myself.

Oh I've been tired of windows I wrote a whole big giant rant about it already but long story short I'm forced to use Windows because of my work and entertainment preferences. I'm a slave to Windows and I don't like it

one way to disable windows defender is to install another antivirus, Expired or not and it will switch to that.

defender control is definitely not fully compatible with Win11 yet as I see another recent "not working on W11" comment posted on their web site on 9/5

It is - was just released 13 Sept 2021, and specifically states Windows 11 compatibility now.

I thought I had Windows Defender disabled on all of my computers, but I must have missed a laptop and Windows Defender kept trying to delete Nirsoft WirelessNetView saying it's a hack tool. Anyone who uses Nirsoft WirelessNetView knows it is not a hack tool and is safe. I've been using it and other Nirsoft applications for years.
