"Windows Intelligence Update"?

Hi Everyone,

Over the last few months I've periodically noticed a type of update I hadn't seen before that's just called "Windows Intelligence Update" and gets listed in the Other Updates section of update history. I'm curious what it is, but I couldn't find any reference to it in Microsoft's documentation. Does anyone happen to know off-hand?

(FYI I'm not referring to the usual "Security Intelligence Updates" that are listed under the Definition Updates section of update history)

I've had three so far, the first on 06/06/2022. It's not a definitions update, it tweaks the detection logic.

Microsoft said:
Microsoft continually updates security intelligence in antimalware products to cover the latest threats and to constantly tweak detection logic, enhancing the ability of Microsoft Defender Antivirus and other Microsoft antimalware solutions to accurately identify threats. This security intelligence works directly with cloud-based protection to deliver fast and powerful AI-enhanced, next-generation protection.

Hi Bree,
On that Microsoft link I see an explanation for Security Intelligence Update but could not find anything more specific about Windows Intelligence Update.

What is Windows Intelligence Update exactly doing?
These messages started showing up frequently with Dev Builds, but I never noticed the same message about Windows Intelligence Update with Public Build 22H2 even if they show up in the Other Updates history starting on June 3, 2022, I see 4 in the history. 🤷‍♂️

These are in the Defender Definition History:

These are in Other Updates History, but there is no explanation to be found about what they do. 🤷‍♂️

These ones below are in my Public Build 22621.xxxx:

I can find nothing much. There seems to be complete silence from MS on this. The best I could find was this (translated from Geman in Edge).

Thanks Bree,
I guess we'll have to ask MS with an FBH.
They rarely give the right answer, but I'll give it a try. 🤣🤷‍♂️

Somebody suggested that those updates have something to do with A.I.
We never got an explanation from Microsoft, perhaps something to do with enabling hidden features?
A better name could be "Windows Idiocy Updates". 🤣🤣🤣😜🤷‍♂️

The security intelligence update gets updated frequently - typically multiple times every single day, although Windows doesn't pull down the updates with that level of frequency.

Take a look at the web site and you will note that the latest update is almost always on the same day that you are looking at the web page.

The Security Intelligence update has nothing to do with the Windows Intelligence Updates. Completely different purpose.
Also logged in a separate Update History. 😎🤷‍♂️
