Windows Mail - Rendering in HTML???

In the past week, Windows Mail has started rendering some of my incoming emails in HTML rather than normal text. This only occurring for certain emails I receive regularly and only in a yahoo email account. Occurring for all emails from the same sender every day.

I'm running Windows 11 home, fully updated and have made sure all Microsoft Store apps are up to date. Never had this problem previously.

If I sign into Yahoo email, the emails render correctly. Also, installed Mozilla Thunderbird and added the yahoo account. Renders ok on Thunderbird as well.

Any suggestions?

A lot of views, but no suggestions so far. Maybe some examples will help. Following are excerpts from 3 emails. I substituted # signs for anything that might be something personally identifiable that shouldn't be posted on a public forum. Notice that examples #1 and #3 are clearly HTML. Example #2 is not.

Any suggestions? It seems to me it must be something related to windows mail since the emails render as they should on Thunderbird Mail and if I sign into Yahoo directly from Edge. Thanks in advance for any guidance on how to address this issue.

My Dad is seeing the same thing. Can't figure it out. His is also a yahoo account.

Most ISPs provide an E-Mail Address when setting up an account, did either of you get that and set it up? If so you could forward the Yahoo mail to it then check if the same issue is displayed. Also, that E-Mail can be accessed via the Web browser, usually a link on the ISPs Home page, just need the E-Mail Address and Password.

I've had to help with clients who have issues with Yahoo, if I had to make a guess I'd say Yahoo may be getting overwhelmed with customers and can't keep up.

My old boy is on Yahoo, Worst thing ever created lol. Genuinely cannot believe how outdated and just plain crap it is, Compared to Gmail or even Outlook. In my book, They dont have enough customers, so they don't keep up because they dont really need to. The web version anyway looks about 15 years old and hasn't changed much at all. Bin yahoo and move to Gmail or something better

It's only an issue in Windows Mail. For Dad, its not ALL html mail, but is probably the majority. The message renders OK in other mail clients.

Biggest issue I've seen with an E-Mail address is that once it's established it is difficult to quickly change, kinda like being trapped.

Possibly, but it's a recent development and all is OK outside of Windows mail. The yahoo backend still hosts a lot of non-yahoo mail. I'm assuming they are getting paid something from AT&T and the like.

1000% correct, couldn't agree more. I get it though, people use what they're most comfortable with, whether there's a better or newer one out there or not. It's all about how comfortable the user is pc wise too, I've been on Gmail for as long as I can remember, I got an outlook account for work related stuff and within 10 minutes I was familiar and comfortable with it. Albeit that is a pretty easy one to use but so they should be.

Yeah the main yahoo still works fine like, just not sure what the deal is with windows not picking it up properly. I wonder if the same would happen on windows 10. Maybe yahoo haven't done whatever they need to if anything to allow it to work as intended on 11. Doubt there would be a difference but it is a variable none the less

Obviously, I'm not the only one having problems. As others have said, problem is just with yahoo on windows mail and it doesn't affect every email I receive. Works ok if I sign into yahoo mail directly via the browser. Also, I installed Thunderbird on which it works ok as well.

Regarding changing email providers, not an easy task for me or probably some of you. I have a number of emails accounts each of which I use for different purposes. Unfortunately, a lot of my news feeds are on the yahoo account as well as old business-related contacts that have been added over many, many years. I guess I'll start switching over since using Windows mail is convenient for me and I definitely don't want to have to go to a different source just to read a few yahoo emails.

I am recently experiencing the same problem with yahoo mail account using Windows Mail client. I'm running Windows 10 with latest updates. This issue isn't restricted to Windows 11.

This is happening in Windows10 too since June. This Microsoft Community Forum doesn't seem to be attracting Microsoft's attention.
The latest suggestion is to complain in Feedback Hub, which is an app in your Windows app list. You can attach a screenshot. I hope they feel embarrassed that emails from their Forum website have the same problem.

I reported on Feedback Hub back in June when problem first started. Finally gave up and am letting my contacts know not to use my yahoo email any more. Am migrating everybody over to another email provider. By the way, the Yahoo emails render correctly on Mozilla Thunderbird which I am using on an interim basis.

I phoned Microsoft support. The guy tried a few things and then at the end of the conversation he spoke to someone else and told me that it is a "a known problem" and that Microsoft are working on a solution.

I feel like a dog trying to catch a Firetruck. Getting left behind!
Windows mail was/is an email Program written by Microsoft to replace Outlook Express. It first showed up in Windows Vista, and then was disabled from running in every OS since then.
I made it run in Windows 7 and 8.1 by replacing the Windows Mail files in those OS's with the files from the Windows Mail folder in Windows Vista.
That works, but I was led to understand, that little hack would not work in Windows 10 or 11.
I've not really tried it in Windows 11, but maybe I should, just for grins and giggles.
There is a place in options in Windows Mail, where you can set it to display all mail in HTML or "the way it was sent".
I guess I need more information. Anyone?

I guess I'd like to know, if someone (anyone) is actually using the "Windows Mail" program in Win-11.....HOW are you doing that?
I'm currently using O.E.Classic email program in Win-10 and Win-11, and it WORKS, but my preference would be "Windows Mail" if only I could get it to work.

OK, I did just try it, and it didn't work.
Then I tried the resident "Mail" program in Win-11 and it worked, and I was able to create an account and receive one piece of email.
I just really don't like the GUI! Looks too foreign to me.

I'll probably continue to use O.E.Classic as my Email program of choice on Win-11. It's almost a clone of Outlook Express, which I used for many years.

If wanting to try something else, SeaMonkey has an E-Mail Client in it, looks more familiar.

The system would not let me edit my previous post. So here's what I could not add.

I did manage to get Windows 11 "Mail" set up for my main GMail account, and I've received and sent several emails.
It did take me forever to set up the default Font, etc. The program is not very user friendly, when it comes to setting it up for Personal Preferences.
But I just applied my 40+ years of experience dealing with unfriendly software, and I prevailed. The program actually Works.

Can you please explain how you got it to work.. same problem here for my grandfather.. searching all over the place, I see instructions that don't exist ("go to options" - there is no "Options". "go to tools"- there is no tools)
I can not find any option to fix this HTML issue anywhere

It's extremely frustrating to read forum posts that say "Oh I fixed it, problem solved!"
