Windows Update failure 800f081f because of missing component?

Hi there, I am running two laptops with a slimmed down Windows 11 23H2 Home image (22631.2861) that I created over Xmas with NTLite Free and MSMG. The December update ran fine so I thought I was successful. However the January update fails at 100% with error 800f081f with the following errors in cbs.log. It seems to me that I removed some component/package that needs to be updated. Is there a way around this and get the update to install? If not, is there a way to reinstall this package that avoids a full Windows reinstall?

Unfortunately it looks like I deleted my notes/logs from creating the ISO so I am not exactly sure what I deleted.

Thank you.
Code:

did some integrity repair however afterwards still same issue. Here is everything from the CBS folder after the last try. CBS.zip

My hypothesis is that I would need to somehow reinstall the missing package; any hints appreciated.

Hello @SvenHz and welcome to ElevenForum. :-)

An In-Place Upgrade (repair install), is probably the best option you have, for reinstalling an unknown mystery component.

For Windows 11...

An In-Place Upgrade "compares" what is installed on the computer, with the Windows ISO image.
Then, it overwrites any corrupted Windows files, with clean copies from the ISO image.
This is how it "repairs" Windows while allowing you to keep your programs and personal files.

Here is the short version of the In-place upgrade tutorial...

DISABLE non-Microsoft:
a) antivirus software
b) firewall software
c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect or AOMEI Backupper Standard
Making a backup is optional, but always a smart move.
Macrium Reflect
AOMEI Backupper Standard (free)

Get the Windows 11 ISO (Option #2), and save it to your desktop...

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will "look" like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.

The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations.
Your drivers, programs and data will be intact.

Side note: I saw you mentioned "taking notes". That was a smart move. When tweaking Windows you NEED to keep a record of the things you tweaked.

After running the In-Place Upgrade, here are some common Windows tweaks. Keep your notes some place safe, this time. :-)

Most important of all... use backup software.

Hello @SvenHz and welcome to ElevenForum. :-)

An In-Place Upgrade (repair install), is probably the best option you have, for reinstalling an unknown mystery component.
The missing component is Windows Mixed Reality.

NTLite free edition doesn't allow for its removal, so it was likely removed by MSMG. I would agree a repair install is the safest option.
