To many updates and why every week for something else that people can complain? Whether MS server to download updates or OS software changes by engineers?

Sometimes, you just have to leave well enough alone............If a major OS update, do once a month?? Help me understand why OS updates most every week? Software engineers job security? Been going on for years.
