On the assumption that you've installed and tried this app, I'd like to know whether you think it's a match for CCleaner. I use CCleaner every day on all of my machines, and I find that using it with settings chosen wisely and conservatively gets the job done for me safely and effectively.

It doesn't seem to do all that much... but what it does, it makes super easy to do.
It'd be a good guide for Microsoft to use for their settings. Much better interface.

It's not a replacement for CCleaner. And I don't use CCleaner at all, so I cannot say what the comparison is.

Correct.

Everything it does can probably be done without too much of a hassle directly from Windows - mostly via commandline, but some of them might need other methods to make use of them.

^^^^^^ This. The layout is 1000X better than having to do all this through various means in your system.

It's OK. It's straightforward but does not bring anything new, so to me, it's not worth keeping.
It's well laid out; I give you that, but I was expecting more oomph, whatever that means.
The issue I have with those is they seem to confuse the terms optimizing & cleaning-up, tweaks & options.

Not trying to be a jerk, but my definition of tweaking is optimization. Or, rather, I make use of tweaks to achieve optimization.

IOW, I employ tweaks to optimize my software and experience. :look:

That being said, though, as noted above - nothing new, just a better UI and more organized layout to the same things you accomplish using other tools.

Yep, a lot of good work went into that and I commended the developer on the MS store app review page.

Talk about damning wiht faint praise! Reminds me of the joke about the guy who is outside at night looking for his keys under a street lamp. A passerby notes how fortunate the keys were dropped under a light. The searcher says, "Oh no, I dropped them about 30 feet (he points) that way". The passerby asks, "Then why are you looking here?" Searcher replies, "Because there's a light here."

Given the vast experience on this Board, I expect all have heard a version of this joke, but it never grows old nor fails to impart the lesson.

In a similar vein... yesterday I ran the CHKDSK Repair function of Wintoys for the first time.

It required a reboot and took an hour to complete. I thought to myself, "This took so long it must be good!" And so I made backups of my other five computers and ran Repair on evey one. Now I sleep better at night.

99.999999999% positive it’s using Windows CHKDSK.

OK... I lied. Sometimes after check marking a tweak, you'll need to reboot.
It tells you at the bottom left if you need to reboot.

I do like the ability to Export all the tweaks I made with Winaero. That does come in really handy.

I'd imagine they will be releasing a new version soon. Now that 24H2 is out in the wild.
I just checked. The DL version is still 1.63.0.0

This is one of the first apps that I install on a clean install of Windows. It works very well and tweaks things that some other tweaking apps don't touch.
