WMP doesn't show online-only OneDrive music

Unfortunately I couldn't find a fix for this ever since Windows 10.

When OneDrive music files are set to online-only (right-click on music file -> free up space), the new Windows Media Player won't show them in its library even though I have added the OneDrive music folder in the WMP settings.

I'd have to download all of my OneDrive music to my pc for WMP to show them in the library. It's a huge pity since it'd save a lot of space if WMP can show online-only music files and only download them if I click the play button in WMP.

Is there any fix regarding this?

It might be easier to just put a large hard drive in your computer, and store the music files there.

For example...

I filtered for 1TB or larger 7200rpm hard drives...

In my computer I put 4TB and 8TB Western Digital Black hard drives, for storage purposes.

Thank you but I'm just wondering if there is any software workaround for this instead of taking up space.

The Groove music app actually had this feature and I don't understand why MS removed this from the new WMP app.

I removed WMP entirely.
I like simple, tiny programs that do one thing.... perfectly.
I hate... bloat. I hate programs that call home all the time.

Neither is necessary and is a result of lazy programming. :-)
