Well, yes, the app relies on newer phones. That said, I have a Samsung galaxy Note 20 S Ultra. It's running Android 12.

BTW, also the ability to take screen shots...

Tried it, didn't see much point. The Pushbullet extension give me notifications just fine and is a quick way to send web pages to my phone or multiple devices. As my phone is always right beside me, it's easier to just pick it up. Might be different if I used Microsoft products for mail and calenders, but I don't.

I use mine all the time now since the app has matured. Any time I'm on the computer its quicker and easier to check and send text especially when attaching images to text. I also use the call feature to accept calls or quickly hang up on spammers. I tried the Dell/Alienware mobile connect for a while but it was buggy for me as far as getting text notifications so I ended up deleting it as I found it and Your Phone didn't play well together. Your Phone call features wouldn't work with the Alienware mobile app installed.

What about backups of phone lists, and messages or syncing with PC ?
How are you connecting ? I'm having trouble keeping Bluetooth link maintain open, I have to reestablish it every time it comes back in range.

As far as I know, Samsung has a tie-up with Microsoft to provide native connect functionality between Samsung phones and Windows. I'm not sure if this feature is limited to their flagships. If not, then this app isn't required for users of Samsung phones.

That said, the primary use of this app as well as other similar apps is to check and respond to your notifications without touching the phone. Additionally, you can also make phone calls, write messages, view/ copy your gallery, etc.

The best part about it in comparison to something like PushBullet is it is free. PushBullet has its own set of bugs and very expensive too.

There is no backup/ sync functionality. You can, however, copy files (primarily gallery) to/ from your phone. The app's objective is to help you use many of the phone features from your computer itself.

I have a Samsung A20 and all works except Calling which isn't supported. No Bluetooth needed.
