@fhschmid - was that originally a MS account, or a local account? (By default, Win 11 insists on you using a MS account when you install it. I ask as you now mention a local account, suggesting you may have at least 2 user accounts on your PC. Hopefully you have the correct password for one...

Thanks- as marked I solved this. The prompt appears, it seems, if this is set: How it came to be set is a mystery. When I noticed that and tried clearing it I got a clearer prompt about what was required (in order to clear that setting in this case)

It normally does update, thanks, but it seems the problem arose after an update, so updates aren't always helpful.
