  1. Solved How to customise quick access folders in "Save As" dialog?

Many thanks - that seems to have done the trick! I'm surprised that it required reg edits to do that - I'm glad that I didn't spend hours trying to work out how to do it!
  2. Solved How to customise quick access folders in "Save As" dialog?

Thanks. I don't find the default user folders very useful (and never use them). Is there any way of removing them from this display, to make more room for the Quick Access folders which I have more control over?
  3. Solved How to customise quick access folders in "Save As" dialog?

Ah OK thanks - I thought I'd tried that but I must have missed those options last time. What is the difference between the list of folders above the grey line and the one below the grey line?
  4. Solved How to customise quick access folders in "Save As" dialog?

Is there any way to customise the default list of folders that is presented when the "Save As" dialog is invoked? In the example below, I clicked the Download option in the Chrome PDF browser, and it presented me with the suggested folders shown in the red triangle. This is the list that I want...
  5. Can't go into Sleep mode

In the end I managed to get the machine to stay asleep by not allowing the ethernet adapter to wake the machine from sleep. It's a pain, as I have now lost wake-on-lan functionality, but at least I can get it to stay in sleep mode overnight.
  6. Can't go into Sleep mode

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I may have made some progress... I entered the "powercfg -devicequery wake_armed" command, and one of the devices listed was "PCI Express Root Port". I Googled "PCI Express Root Port waking PC from sleep" and found that someone on Reddit had success by going...
  7. Can't go into Sleep mode

I should add that this has only started happening in the last week or so - it was previously staying in Sleep mode. No new hardware.
  8. Can't go into Sleep mode

No - it's set to Hibernate "never"
  9. Can't go into Sleep mode

I just turned off hybrid sleep, then put the machine into Sleep mode. It woke again after about 1 minute.
  10. Can't go into Sleep mode

This is what powercfg /a returns: powercfg /a The following sleep states are available on this system: Standby (S3) Hibernate Hybrid Sleep The following sleep states are not available on this system: Standby (S1) The system firmware does not support this standby state...
  11. Can't go into Sleep mode

Over the last week or so I've been unable to put my PC into Sleep mode. More specifically, whenever I put it into Sleep mode it immediately resumes. Running Powercfg doesn't give any clues - see below: powercfg /lastwake Wake History Count - 1 Wake History [0] Wake Source Count - 0 Event...
  12. Problems with multiple displays

I am struggling with Windows 11's handling of multiple displays.... I have three displays: A: AOC 2560x1440 monitor connected via Displayport - this is configured as the Primary display B: AOC 2560x1440 monitor connected via Displayport C: Hisense HD TV, connected with HDMI via a Sony...
  13. No sound from surround speakers using Realtek Audio Console

Yeah I have some 40 year old Mission speakers in the lounge and they still do the job. I guess they passed the point of diminishing returns with speaker design quite a while ago.
  14. No sound from surround speakers using Realtek Audio Console

Thanks for the link. Ever since getting a Dolby surround sound decoder 25 years ago I've been hooked on listening to music using surround speakers. I think it's time for a hardware upgrade, though.
  15. No sound from surround speakers using Realtek Audio Console

OK I'm sorry to say that this seems to have been a hardware issue. The input connections on the Cambridge Soundworks amp/subwoofer were loose. A bit of adjustment seems to have corrected the issue. For now, at least. Many thanks for all the help
