I have now gone through the following sequence three times since reporting this issue.
Reset background and lock screen using bat file provided in the tutorial and run a SFC scan (no corruption found)
Runs fine for approximately two or three weeks
Stops changing lock screen image followed...

Is the C:\windows\temp not accessible by a user with administrator privileges by default? My laptop's windows temp folder will not open in File Explorer. Can you provide instructions to change the access so that my user account can open the folder?
The reg file does not have an app included just the UserChoice registry key. I am trying to restore the file type default app to the out of the box app.
I am only interested in what MS provides as a default app out of the box. I know how to change the individual file types using Windows + I and searching for ico in the Search field under Default Apps.
