I've done this on this new machine I'm configuring, but I still get only the modern app as a selection when I right-click a .txt file and select "Open With > Choose another app". I have other machines that suggest both apps when I do this, but does anyone know what the difference could be...

I'm configuring a new computer, and I've set the mouse the way I want it, but this isn't being honored until I log in. How do I change the "no specific user yet" screen to match?

Worth noting: This is not true if you've disabled modern menus; only "Open" shows up in this case. (A rare case where "modern" means "better". ;-)) I neglected to read the linked page before posting, and now I feel like Emily Litella: "Never mind".

Like most people, I still have a "Control Panel" item in the left pane of File Explorer, but it irks me that when I click on it, I always get the Category View. This setting used to be remembered in older OSs, but apparently no longer. Now, given this list, I can obviously create a shortcut...

That's good for some Microsoft apps (like Notepad and Paint) but not others (like WordPad). It's no help for third party programs, either, but most of them should have old style shortcuts somewhere in the old Start Menu folders. (I dread the day when I find some "Modern" app that I need to do...

Shortcuts created in this manner don't show up when placed in the SendTo folder, so does anyone have another alternative?
