Win 11 22H2 upgrade "broke" Discus (my CD label and jewel case liner design program) print interface. 22H2 added a new print interface panel, similar to the current Windows print panel. Problem is, if I have 5 CD labels to print (my Primera Bravo SE ink jet CD/DVD printer has capacity of 20 discs) and select 5 as the number of copies to print it only prints one. No matter the number it only prints one. Checking "Let the app change my printing preferences" makes no difference.

Discus is an old program (abandonware) and even relies on Apple Quicktime.

I have 15 years of CD label and jewel case liner designs for my recording studio clients. I still get orders for CD's, and have a client coming next week and wants some CD's made. I've tried (and have) some other design programs but none match the flexibility and features of Discus.

Question, is there any way to revert to the pre 22H2 print app?

Discus is not running in a compatibility mode. This PC is an upgrade OS System 7/8/8.1/10/11 and Discus was installed in Win 7. Its operated perfect in everything except 22H2. I tried Win 7 compatibility mode and no difference.

I tried the procedure in that link and it didn't work, or at least didn't work with this app. I did the command line (run as Administrator) and got the completed successfully message. Checked Registry and the entry was not there so created the new entry, rebooted the PC and tried but new print screen still there.

Procedures:
Type the following command exactly as given below, and press Enter:

reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Print\UnifiedPrintDialog" /v "PreferLegacyPrintDialog" /d 1 /t REG_DWORD /f
If the command was executed correctly, you should see the message “The operation completed successfully.

Alternately, you can start the Registry Editor (regedit.exe) and go to the following branch:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Print\UnifiedPrintDialog
Create a new REG_DWORD value named PreferLegacyPrintDialog

Set PreferLegacyPrintDialog data to 1.

Exit the Registry Editor.

This looks to be isolated to this one program. Others, including other disc printing programs are not affected by the print change in 22H2.

I have a workaround if needed. I have a laptop with Win 10 and I can install Discus and the Primera Brave SE disc printer driver on the laptop. If I need to print a large batch of CD's I can use the Laptop (as long as it still works).

As for using a computer with an older OS, I use a Win7 for a particular program but it doesn't need nor have Internet access. The program has reached EOL some time ago but is still quite useful for my need, it actually worked fine on WinXP, which I also still have available.

Have you thought about setting up a Windows 10 and 11 dual boot system?
As long as the laptop holds out, I'm OK for large CD orders. If the lap dies then I'll do a dual boot. I have a dual boot now with Win 11 and the Insider versions. I keep the Insider versions to test recording studio apps with newer versions, never dawned on me to test an app like Discus.

Try a virtual machine running Discus under windows 7. Use virtual box or similar.
I use an xp virtual machine to run an old 16bit label printing programme and it works ok on my win 11 machine.

Discus doesn't need to be run in a compatibility mode or a VM. Except for the 22H2 print change it still works in 22H2. Just the print issue since installing Win 11 22H2. Before 22H2 Discus CD print worked correctly in Win 11.

I'm going to mark this as solved since I have a workaround with the Win 10 laptop (or I could add Win 10 as a triple boot).
