24H2 Edge taking over and syncing

I've just installed 24H2 on one machine. Set up with a local account then later signed into my microsoft account and set up firefox account. Then Edge suddenly starts up and says, as you've signed into microsoft, we've signed you into Edge as well and synced all your passwords and history. The cheek! And the only option to click was "Done". Not - would you like to, yes or no? It also said if you wanted to sign out you could go to settings. So I went to settings and signed out again and opted to delete all my history and passwords!

I'm wondering if this happened because I hadn't, at that point, yet set up the Firefox master password, Or whether it's just something that happens now.

I believe it is by default that Edge does this.
Disconnecting from the internet after 24H2 (or 23H2) installation and disabling Edge Syncing is probably the only way to stop it before it acts. Or possibly just kill it before you sign in to your Microsoft Account.

Somewhere in that process you missed a step or miss-ticked a box (on or off)

MS Edge's wont to control your device can be bypassed, vigilance is the byword

go into edge settings > sign out
then just disable the edge sign in option via reg.

Makes me not want to sign into a microsoft account. I didn't sign into Edge - it just said that as I'm signed into Microsoft it was signing me into Edge. I wasn't even using Edge! Thanks for the tips.
