I have a 4 TB USB HDD that doesn't show up in Windows File Explorer but does in Disk Management. Device Manager claims that it's performing properly but the "volumes" tab shows only hash marks (no information). See image. The disk spins fine and is not a "clicker".

I've poked around some system events but I really don't know what I'm looking for or how to interpret what I see.

I'll appreciate any thoughts on further information to provide or where to go from here. I've browsed tutorials but haven't located anything that directs me to what to look for. Any recommendation to a tutorial also will help.

Can you get a screenshot of Disk Management and point out the drive?

I really doubt your disk not showing in explorer as anything to do with the dcom events. Per Microsoft, Dcom 10016 events can be ignored as they do not affect functionality and are by design. These events are caused when Microsoft components try to access DCOM components without the required permissions. MS does have a workaround to change these permissions using the registry but MS does not advise anyone but IT professionals to use it.

In which PC is it plugged in - Acer_Desktop? CyberPowerPC?

Whichever , a screenshot of Windows Disk Management is absolutely necessary.

Plugit in into the both PCs and post the screenshots of Windows Disk Management as obtained in each PC. (You will in effect be posting two screenshots of Windows Disk Management.)

Thanks so much for all comments/sugestions.

For whatever reasons I found that my primary problem was viewing the drive on my laptop computer while away from home. On returning home the hDD is recognized fine with all files intact.

Sorry to have "juped the gun" without first checking the HDD on my home computer.

What's the output of Diskpart -> list disk (run in elevated command mode

Might be something simple that the HDD is shown as offline

If that's the case then from within diskpart -- select disk xxx (xxx is the disk nr shown as offline) then online disk then if a letter isn't shown up you can assign it one --- just list vol , select vol xxx, assign letter=yyy

cheers

Thought this was solved but it isn't. I set my older computer to copy files to a folder in a USB drive. It proceeded slowly but appeared to do so overnight. Upon accessing the folder this evening it shows zero files but F:\ drive is occupied with ~ 450GB "space" overnight. Yet Windows shows the folder with zero files (450GB =/ zero?).

So what's going on? Has my Macrium backup file somehow corrupted the drive? Below is an image of some my screen captures.

Are you talking about the "My Documents - E" folder of 424GB 106.644 files? (folder date of today)
I guess the backup did not go into "Documents from Acer - Move to Cy.."
but directly into f:\
