Access to 192.168.1.1 is blocked by Chrome

I can not access the router to be able to log in due to Chrome not allowing access. When I enter 192.168.1.1 for the default gateway it block it.

Is this because of http: rather than https: and if so how do I access my router?

Are you logging in directly connected from your PC to the Router using Ethernet?
Have you tried wireless?

It's a known issue with Chrome - probably because it's forcing https://

As suggested above, Firefox should work for you.

I’ve seen that router access IP blocked in the Hosts file on someones PC once before, if the above fails, might be worth taking a look.

Open with notepad, look for the IP, if not there then cross it off the list.
I tried typing where the hosts file resides, in a code box but the forum wouldn’t let me post with it in my reply.

%windir%\System32\drivers\etc\

file is Hosts.
Doubt that entry would be there as it's not by default.

OMG I was using right hand slashes, not left.
My God I am surprised I can even turn a PC on.

I did try Edge, but that didn't work. I have installed Firefox as you suggested but to no avail. I typed the address in and all it gives is the an osculating dot with the 'New Tab' I did check that Firefox could find other locations and that seems fine.

I am logging in via wireless from this laptop (which is win11) but I have another PC (with win10) connected by cable that will access the router no problem.

I will enable the wireless in the router again and connect direct to it and then try Firefox again. I will bypass the WAP and see if Firefox will access the router

Edit: I bypassed the Netgear WAP and connected straight to the Vodafone router via it's own wireless. Firefox still doesn't connect to the router.. I have tried http://192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.1 on its own, no success.

Further Edit: It looks like I might have a problem with the laptop; I can not access Microsoft Store to down load the WhatsApp app for desktops, neither with Chrome or Firefox and with and without firewall on.

Yeah right, sounds weird. I don’t know how to help you. So you can connect wirelesly using all computers less the one laptop?
You can’t access the MS store on the mentioned laptop but you can access other sites? MS Store is known to be hit and miss sometimes, from what I’ve read.

I know it is 192.168.1.1 because I don't have a problem with with Win10/Chrome PC combination.
The issue seems to stem from the win11/Chrome or Edge or Firefox combination so I suspect there is something in the set up I am missing. I have turned off the firewall but it had no effect.

From an admin command prompt run

Ipconfig /all

on each pc and post results (best way is to cut and paste text from command window into a "</>" code box from menu above).

The win11 one is the laptop I am having trouble with and the win10 is the computer that will connect OK
